Polish Radio: Drugs absorbed through the skin. A breakthrough in research?

– There are several routes by which drugs can penetrate through the skin. Starting from the least used, but still having great potential: sebaceous ducts and hair follicles which form a transfollicular route, leading directly into the bloodstream. Then we have a transdermal route, where an active substance goes through individual layers of cells. There is also a transepidermal route, which is normally blocked by intracellular deposits (…). This is precisely our professional focus: to open that route for the transfer of medicinal substances, explains Paweł Biernat, PhD.

You can listen to the entire interview about Biotts’ transdermal system (in Polish) here.
